Monave at Baltimore Fashion Week
I am so excited!!! This year Monave was approached by Sharan Nixon, the organizer of Baltimore Fashion Week, to be the official makeup line for the shows! This is a momentous occasion for us as this exposure will showcase our product line as a being home grown. Monave will be used by 21 makeup artists from around the Northeast Coast. They’ll be using the entire line along with a mineral glow moisturizer which we made especially for the show!
Baltimore Fashion Week runs from Monday, August 10 to Friday, August 14th15th at the War Memorial Building and Plaza, 101 North Gay Street, Baltimore MD. The theme of the show is ‘Once Upon a Fashionable Dream: A Fashionista’s Fairytale’. There will designers from as far away as Africa and Paris to New York and of course Baltimore. Each night has different themes from eco-conscious on opening night to couture on closing night! It’s going to be a great show this year and Monave will be there!

Wow what a Seminar!
Monave’s Mineral Makeup Seminar a Success!
It was an incredible day of learning and networking yesterday at Monave; 12 participants from all over the country, and five speakers teaching topics ranging from making mineral foundation to applying it, to marketing it. Donna Maria from Indie Beauty workshop on utilizing social media, such as blogs and Twitter, was a real eye-opener for all of us. Most of us have been doing business the old-fashioned way for so long, and she helped gently get our minds thinking along more modern ways of communicating with our customers. Thank you Donna Maria!
Julie Edwards, was phenonemal, as usual. She runs a custom mineral makeup business primarily for African American women near D.C. It’s called Color and Soul Cafe. It’s a beautiful little spot, and women can get their whole makeup arsenal custom made, from the perfect shade of mineral foundation right down to their lipstick.
Her workshop helped participants understand the value of including all complexions in a line of color cosmetics. She also taught us how to see the variety of undertones and overtones reflected in darker skin, and showed us how to blend the perfect shade to match those tones.
I’ll post pictures soon!
Now it’s time to go put the chairs, tables and shelves back in order. We made a mess making makeup yesterday!

Private Label Mineral Makeup Opportunities
This is Deb, the owner
I thought I’d chat for a minute today about our business opportunities. Some of you reading this may be typical of today’s woman; worried about job loss, perhaps already feeling the pinch of either losing a spouse’s income, or facing reduced cash flow. Many of you may be also facing the limitations of work due to having children.
Working from home can defintely have its advantages. But if you are an eco-consumer, selling traditional cosmetics as a home-based business isn’t always suitable due to the toxins that are in the ingredients. Our team of wholesale reps often gets inquries from women wondering if they can represent, or sell our makeup from a home-based business. The answer is a resounding ‘yes!’
I’ve always believed in helping women achieve their dreams. Sometimes a dream may be as small as wanting extra income to put toward a vacation. It might be as large as leaving a secure job to start a family-based business. All of these are possibilities with the right tools, smarts, and determination. With this economy in mind, the Monave drop-ship program is an ideal way for someone to start a mineral cosmetics wholesale business with neglible start-up costs. Some basic samples and a cheap train case from a department store is all you need to get started. I believe in starting with a limited color palette, and working in broader choices as funds permit. 10 lip samples, 15 foundation samples, 10 eye samples, and 5 cheek colors is plenty to start, and that would total $60.00. A few basic brushes would bring the total up to less than $100.00
Monave mineral makeup is easy to sell because it sells itself. With a drop-ship program, you only order what your customers order, so you don’t need to waste precious resourcs on stocking up in hopes of selling certain makeup products. All you need to get started is a basic knowledge of mineral makeup application, samples, brushes, and a small advertising budget. You can use local papers, Craig’s List, flyers on coffee shop bulletin boards, your church, your kids’ school…the possibilities are endless.
So I encourage you to consider mineral makeup home-based sales. The first step is to name your business. The next is to get an EIN at www.usgov.com, and the third is to start ordering samples, and getting some practice applying to your friends and neighbors. Monave is offering classes this summer in mineral makeup application, mineral makeup sales, mineral makeup for different ethnic groups, such as latin, african-american and asian, as well as some great information about the legal aspects of starting a business.
Please let us know how we can help. No customer is too small at Monave. We’re here to help!

New Executive Monave Mineral Makeup Wholesale Rep on Staff
Monave is pleased to have a new wholesale executive rep on board; Julie Casper. She is a licensed esthetician and makeup artist, who trained at the prestigious Von Lee International School of Esthetics in Pikesville, MD.
Julie comes with a degree in legal administration, with a focus on business. This gives Monave the advantage of years of business acumen and knowledge, especially important as we navigate the ever changing world of International Cosmetics Sales.
Julie started her professional relationship with beauty after working in the legal industry because she wanted to do something that she had a passion for. She says, “I like working with people, and I like using makeup as an outlet for creativity and artistry. I think that using makeup allows an individual to come out of their shell and go to another place. I love the look on someone’s face when they know that they look beautiful. I love knowing that I’ve made someone happy.”
Working as a wholesale rep allows her to “…be able to get to a lot of people through one small portal. You can affect a lot of people, so that everyone can get access to the products”.
In addition, she is excited to be able to be part of helping women achieve their dreams of running their own businesses. She says, “It is amazing to see someone grow and develop self esteem and confidence when they are given the tools to succeed.”
We are excited to be working with someone who has a truly positive and caring outlook on life. Julie can be contacted via our contact info page on the website.
